College History

Adusumilli Gopala Krishnaiah Technological Association, a Registered Society was revived by KCP Ltd. in 1975 to provide higher education facilities within the door steps of the Sugarcane producing families of Vuyyuru and neighbouring villages. The Society with the support of local philanthropists and sugar cane growers started a junior and a Degree College in 13 acres of land named as Adusumilli Gopala Krishnaiah & Sugar cane Growers’ College (AG & SG College), which were inaugurated on 12th August, 1975 by the Honorable Chief Minister Sri Jalagam Vengala Rao.

Velagapudi Rama Krishna and Sugarcane Growers Educational and Welfare Society formed by KCP Ltd. extended financial support to run the college. To improve the physical amenities and to strengthen the academic programs in the college, the management of the college was taken over by the KCP Ltd. in 1994. The KCP Management desired to hand over the two colleges to Siddhartha Academy of General & Technical Education in 2001-02, which came forward with a noble motive and progressive outlook to take over the management so as to serve the student community.

From a modest beginning in 1975 with 143 students, college emerged as one of the premier institutes in rural Andhra Pradesh with 1309 students and 56 faculty.  New programs like B.Sc. MCCs (2018-19), B.Sc. Aquaculture (2019-20), B.Sc. MSCs (2021-22), and B.Com E- Commerce (2021-22) were introduced in addition to the existing programs.  The college has Post Graduate programs of M.Sc. Chemistry (2010-11) with Organic Chemistry as specialization, M.Com (2015-16) and M.Sc. Computer Science (2016-17) for the bright future of socially backward classes in and around Vuyyuru.   Certificate courses, Skill Development courses, Skill Enhancement courses, Add on courses are introduced in the college to satisfy the academic pursuit of student community. Campus recruitment training is given high priority. 135 students are placed in the academic year 2022-23.  Forty seven (48) years of college in higher education has created a niche in this region by the unstinted support of the management.

 In tune with the philosophy of the management which strives for progress the infra structure of the college is developed in an admirable manner. Well equipped laboratories, Library and reading room, Internet Center,   Indoor sports Auditorium, Gymnasium for both men and women, Yoga center, E- class room with computer systems and LAN facility,   Canteen, Women’s hostel, common Rest rooms for girl students, Eight lane 400 meters track, Ball badminton, Basket ball, Volley ball cricket, Kho-Kho , Tenny –Koit and Khabadi courts  help the students to enrich their competence and improve themselves mentally and physically. A 25 Kv Solar Power plant and RO   water plant serve the needs of the college.

  The college is recognized under 2f and 12B and is affiliated to Krishna University, Machilipatnam.  AG & SG College is accredited at “A” grade by NAAC securing 3.05 on a 4 point scale in 2017 (cycle-II).   The college is conferred with Autonomous status from the academic year 2012 and acquired the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 certificate in September 2021.
