             Physics is one of the Basic Sciences. It facilitates  understanding the laws of  Nature. Engineering and technology was evolved and is being supported by laws and phenomena of Physics. To impart the knowledge of Physics to the youth in and around Vuyyuru and to encourage them to pursue higher education in Physics, the Management provided the base in the college in the form of department of Physics in 1975 offering B. Sc. Degree Course with Physics as one of the core subject and Telugu as medium of instructions.  The department started with 23 students in MPC stream with 15 students opting Physics as their main subject.The department got started with Sri B.V.Rayudu as the only faculty member in the year 1975 and subsequently Sri D.Karuna Chandra Babu (1977) joined the institution. In the year 1980 another section with English as medium of instructions got introduced & Sri B.Suryanarayana  was promoted from AG & SG Junior college to the AG & SG Degree college under the same management as Lecturer. In the year 1985 Sri V.Rajendra Prasad was similarly promoted, With managements intention to strengthen the department, Sri C.Vamshidhar (1999), Sri M.S.V.Vara Prasad (2004), Sri S.V.Ramana (2006) were appointed.  In the year 2008 Sri U.Ram Prasad  was promoted from AG & SG Junior college to the AG & SG Degree college under the same management as Lecturer. In the year 2010 Sri Ch.Vijay Anil Dai was similarly promoted. With managements intention to strengthen the department Sri P.Venkata Ramana(2013) (Redeployed from A.J Colloge, Machilipatnam),  Sri J.Hareesh Chandra (2009), Sri M.Sateesh (2011), Mis Ch.Jaya Sree (2016) were appointed.

Teaching Methods  

•The faculty members prepare annual academic plans for the completion of the syllabus. Teaching diaries and teaching notes are prepared. In addition to the conventional method of using board and chalk.
•Teaching is also done using transparencies on the topics prescribed in the curriculum using the overhead projector.
•Models and charts are also utilized for a better understanding of the concepts.
•Teaching is done through "U-Boards".
•Students are encouraged to watch Mana T.V. Programmes while topics related to the curriculum are telecast.

Learning Resources :

Apart from class room learning the students have the following sources of learning:
Library Resources: The department has a Library and a Book Bank with 300 volumes. These are open for both reference and lending purposes.
Laboratory Resources: The department has the following equipments in the laboratories –

  •    Computer connected Digital Oscilloscope
  •    Digital Screw Guage
  •    Digital Vernier Callipers

    The guest lectures organized by eminent   resource persons   in the subject is a source of   learning for the students.
    Students are encouraging to participate in seminars and posture presentations organized by other collages.

      The faculty members of the department participated in all the phases of Janmabhoomi and Clean & Green Programmes initiated by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

     Demonstration of practicals to 10th class students of Z.P. High Schools in and around Vuyyuru.    The faculty participated in the election duties assigned by the Govt. for Panchayat, Mandal, Zillaparishad, Assembly and parliament Elections.

    The Faculty are working in various committees like Calendar committee, Purchase Committee, Time Table committee etc.

    Some of the Faculty members acted as paper setters for the other autonomous colleges.

Department activity CH .Vijay Anil Dai; 1. On June 21 ,2018 , a paper was presented titled “Modification of Heron Engine” at Narasaraopet Engenering College , Narasaraopet. 2. Attended Refresher Course in Computer Science at UGC- HRDC, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam from 27-08-2018 to 16-09-2018. 3. Attended Jnanabheri on 20-09-2018 at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, Vijayawada. 4. Attended Workshop on ‘Fluid Mechanics on 4th and 5th October 2018 at KBN college, vijayawada. 5. Presented a paper at KDK Engineering College, Nagpur. Attended International conference on ‘Multidimensional Role of Basic Science in advanced Technology” on 14th-15th December 2018 and presented a paper on “Physical ,Structural &Optical Properties Of Chromium doped Antimony borate Glass System”. 6. Attended and presented a paper in One Day National Seminar on “Recent Trades in students anti social Behaviour - Implication for the future of education “titled “social role of higher education: globalization at VSR& NVR College ,Tenali on 19th December 2018.
