OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES AND MINORITY COMMITTEE
VISION
An OBC and Minority Committee is functioning in the campus to provide special assistance to the students belonging to the Other Backward Classes and Minority Students. The Committee l encourages the Students of Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Minority Students for higher education by ensuring scholarships and adequate support. The Committee offers assistance in their curricular and co-curricular activities.
MISSION
The OBC and Minority Committee was established in the College with the primary aim of empowering the OBC and Minority students in the College and assisting and guiding them in their curricular and co-curricular activities. The Committee has been set up to help students from these communities to become an inevitable part of the mainstream by ensuring their all-round development and contribute considerably for the progress of the society.
OBJECTIVES:
- To ensure equality in opportunities for education of OBC and Minority students.
- To facilitate financial support to students from these communities from governmental agencies and other sources
- To make the OBC and Minority students aware of the various scholarship’s schemes of the Central and State Governments
- To provide prompt counseling for any emotional emergencies arising on account of any event on the College campus
- To ensure that the College follows the reservation policy as laid down by the Government of ANDHRA PRADESH
- To provide these students with a grievance Redressal mechanism in addition to the regular Redressal mechanism.
FUNCTIONS OF THE OBC CELL:
- To circulate the orders and other circulars issued by the University/ Government of Andhra Pradesh and UGC (University Grant Commission) and to collect regularly, on an annual basis, information regarding course-wise admission of candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes and minority students in the college for different courses in prescribed form within the stipulated date, and to take follow-up of works, where ever required.
- To co-ordinate through university with Govt. (State & Central), UGC and such other organizations to get Scholarship/freeship/other financial benefits for OBC & minority students.
- To deal with representations received from Other Backward Class students and minority students regarding their admission, Scholarships, and other similar matters in the college
- To function as a Grievances Redress Cell for the grievances of OBC students and Minority students. of the college and render them necessary help in solving the academic,as well as Personal problems.
- To maintain a database of candidates belonging to OBC and Minorities in the institute to facilitate in placement service.
- The OBC and Minority Committee will exclusively look after the work related to the OBC and Minorities, No other work will be assigned to it.
